Meerkat Manor: Perfect, secure base in Komatipoort with outstanding hospitality
Meerkat Manor is an excellent choice for a stay in Komatipoort. The town itself is an ideal strategic hub, located right near the Mozambique border and just a short drive from the Kruger National Park's Crocodile Bridge Gate. The property is quietly situated off the main road, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep, but remains just a short distance from a supermarket, pharmacy, and bank—perfect for quickly stocking up on supplies.
Security is handled very well here. The premises are thoroughly secured and accessed via an automatic PIN-code gate, which gives great peace of mind, especially when traveling with photography gear. You will also encounter the resident dog, who sounds quite fierce at first but turns out to be a complete softie. Still, his constant alertness acts as an excellent early warning system and adds another layer of security.
The hospitality was outstanding. We felt incredibly welcome from the second we arrived and were even treated to a free room upgrade. The host provided very useful local tips and took a genuine, engaging interest in our daily wildlife sightings.
Our apartment was very cozy, exceptionally clean, and the kitchen was well-equipped, making self-catering absolutely effortless after a long day in the bush. Considering everything, we were extremely satisfied with the price. It offers fantastic value for money. I would book here again without hesitation.
