The "Capital" of Kruger. Largest camp with the most facilities, beautifully situated on the Sabie River. Excellent for big cats but can be very busy.
Skukuza is the administrative capital and the largest rest camp in the Kruger National Park. Situated on the southern banks of the Sabie River, it boasts incredible facilities including a 9-hole golf course, a doctor, a massive shop, and multiple restaurants. Because it is surrounded by the Sabie and Sand river systems, the wildlife viewing—especially for leopards and lions—is world-class. However, its immense popularity means it often feels more like a small town than a remote bush camp.
The roads immediately surrounding Skukuza are renowned for excellent game viewing. If staying here, prioritize these routes on your morning drives:
Excellent places to park and wait for the wildlife to come to you.
Inquire at camp reception for schedules and booking. (Self-drives are always available during gate times).
Camp gates follow standard park times: 04:30/05:30/06:00 open (seasonal), 17:30/18:00/18:30 close (seasonal).
