A tented camp overlooking the dry Timbavati riverbed. No reception or restaurant (check in at Orpen), but an incredibly authentic bush feel.
Tamboti is a small tented camp built on the steep banks of the Timbavati River. Because it only consists of canvas safari tents and lacks a shop or restaurant, it provides an authentic, rustic bush experience. It is famous—or infamous—for the brazen honey badgers that patrol the camp at night looking for braai leftovers.
The roads immediately surrounding Tamboti are renowned for excellent game viewing. If staying here, prioritize these routes on your morning drives:
Excellent places to park and wait for the wildlife to come to you.
Inquire at camp reception for schedules and booking. (Self-drives are always available during gate times).
Camp gates follow standard park times.
